Regarded as one of Hindi cinema's finest actresses, she was highest paid actress of during her heydays and one of the most successful actresses of the 1960s and 1970s. In a career spanning over four decades, Parekh has received several accolades, including two Filmfare Awards. In 1992, she was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India, India's fourth-highest civilian honour.
